Just send them an email recounting what they told you in the call and ask "am I understanding your concerns correctly?" Or something to that effect. They can either deny they said that I'm which case you can cite their own words and say "no you told me you didn't tell me to work beyond my hours" if they get mad about it or they confirm it and you have legal evidence you can bring to court
Also check if you're in a two party state or not. If so you need to have their permission to record them officially, as demonstrated in this video. If not you can just record them. Read up on local laws to figure out what's up where you are, as well as any contracts you signed with the company, some prohibit recording on company property.
If it's a two party state make sure their consent to be recorded is part of the recording. Otherwise they can lie and say they didn't give consent and you have no proof they did. I made that mistake once and I want others to learn from me.
